“Sandy Gennaro — probably one of the 5 best drummers that I’ve encountered in the last 10 years. He has all the facility, he has all the appearance to make a big plus.”
-Tom Dowd
“Sandy Gennaro is a totally professional musician who I have had the pleasure of working with in the past and the present. We go WAY back to 1978 with Michael Bolton, and he has only gotten more dangerous as a solid drummer who takes his craft to the highest level. Not only is he an amazing person, he makes the drums musical, and from a guitarist, that’s a big compliment!”
-Bruce Kulick (Guitar)
This gig holds a special place in my heart because it was my first band signed to a major record label, PolyGram. It was produced by, and subsequently became close friends with, the legendary Tom Dowd. We recorded in the world-renowned Criteria Studios — arguably the Number 1 studio during the 70’s and 80’s. Our attorney was a little guy with BIG clout, Steve Weiss who represented this little band called Led Zeppelin. The members of Blackjack have gone on to have interesting careers in their own right. Michael’s solo career is well documented; Bruce Kulick (guitar) — KISS, Grand Funk, Meat Loaf and numerous others; and Jimmy Haslip (bass) — Al Jarreau, Robin Ford, The Yellow Jackets and others. Bruce and I frequently participate in the Rock ‘n’ Roll Fantasy Camp as counselors and have a great time doing it.
